About GEN
The Gambling Early Career Researcher Network (GEN) was formed as a result of discussions between a group of early career gambling researchers in 2020. GEN is a peer-led group of self-nominated early career researchers (ECR) who aim to foster connections between gambling researchers across institutions, as well as with international gambling ECR networks.
We are a community of early and mid career researchers in the gambling field based in Australia and New Zealand. We seek to support the growth of gambling researchers by providing a forum for interaction and collaboration, sharing resources and opportunities to learn and contribute to the field, and engaging in open and critical discussions that help address the challenges we face.
Guiding Principles
- Promote inclusive and collaborative interactions within gambling research, and between researchers and other stakeholders
- Manage the network in an open and transparent manner
- Conduct research with methodological rigour and integrity
- Translate and apply evidence-based approaches to minimise and address gambling harm
